Prey – A game review

Prey is a Sci-fi horror shooter which feels like the love child of Bioshock and Deadspace. A twisty thrill ride as you fight Typhon’s (Aliens, from who you can gain powers from ) not knowing who you can trust breeding paranoia aplenty.

How long will it last you?

Prey will last you a decent 20hrs depending which path you take. Prey has some replay value based on these decisions but we recommend getting a physical copy here so you can trade it in when you’re done.

How’s the story?

The story here is really good. Like I mentioned earlier there are many twists and turns and you’re never quite sure who to trust. This is also fleshed out by reading emails via hacked computers and by the time-honored tradition of the audio file. These give you hints on missions or caches of cool new stuff.

Hows the game-play?

The game is reasonable. It’s not going to be the greatest of FPS in the world but this actually adds to the story. It feels as if your character is not adept at using weapons or powers (And often has a lack of ammo) meaning you often need to pick your battles and the art of the tactical retreat needs to utilized.

Should I buy it?

Prey is a decently solid game with a good 20hrs of gameplay. So on that basis, we give it a “buy it” rating. Remember as a solo game we always recommend you buy these on physical disk so you can trade it in later.
