Injustice 2 – A game review

Injustice 2 is a fighting game set in the DC universe. Choose from a lineup of both well-known and more obscure DC characters and fight both online or offline.

How long will it last you?

This is a hard one to equate, the solo story lasts 2-3hrs which is ample for a fighting game. Most of your experience is going to be either fighting online which is unlimited or solo fighting in ladder based games (defeat one enemy to get on to next) which refresh every couple of hours. As you play you build up each character’s level and the available gear for them making them stronger for challenging online.

How’s the story?

Neatherelms studios are known for their ability to tell a story in fighting games and this is no exception the story gives you can opportunity to play as the majority of the characters for a couple of fights as the story unfolds around you. You are often given simple choices between who (out of two) you want to fight with for some of the battles and there is a large choice at the end (no spoilers).

How’s the gameplay?

The gameplay is great as you’d expect from an experienced studio, you have all your standard moves and specials. At the bottom, you have a super meter (split into segments) which can be used in a variety of ways. Do you use a segment to get out of trouble? Do you use it to augment a special move for more damage or a follow-up attack?or do you save it up till completely full for a devastating super move?

This game is so easy to pick up and play but like all good fighting games the more you play the more you get used to the nuances and the better adept you get at using the more advanced attacks or escapes.

Should I buy it?

Tough one, there’s no right answer here!If you love fighting game then yes, especially if you can get your friends around for a go as it’s immensely fun using them as training dummies. So I’m going to give it the  “buy it” rating but in truth, it all depends on your taste.
