How To: Protect yourself online!

In case you missed it, there was a massive cyber attack that hit 200,000 people in 150+ countries. But what can you do to protect yourself online??

This is one of the best tips we at TechspertTalks can give you. Before you haphazardly click on a random link, or download an attachment you were not expecting, think about it. Did you request the link? Do you know the sender?

If the answer to any of the above questions is a no or even a maybe, then don’t click it, don’t open it, simply delete the email and empty your bin.

Passwords:

One easy way of keeping yourself safe is to make sure you use passwords which are safe and unique to yourself. Making them a mix of capital and lower case letters, numbers and symbols. For example T3cH5PerTt@1Ks (brb I’m off to change my Facebook password)

If you have a tendency to forget passwords then you might want to consider using a password manager (I use Dashlane, it’s a great programme for keeping all your passwords safe. and best of all it’s free, not only can it remember your passwords it can also help create a strong password for you)

Updates:

This is one of the best ways you can keep yourself safe,  and it’s something that can be done autonomously, letting your software and O/S keep itself updated is one easy way of making sure you’re protected from threats like WannaCrypt for example.

Using Anti Virus is definitely something that should be installed, there are plenty to choose from depending on what you’re actually looking for. But this is definitely one thing you should have installed on any new PC.
