The wife plays – Little Nightmares review
Little Nightmares is a puzzle-platformer horror adventure game developed by Tarsier Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. You play as Six, a little girl in a striking yellow raincoat and help her escape The Maw!
How long will it last you?
Little Nightmares lasted 4 hrs on my play through with completing the 5 levels, picking up all collectibles and completing all but 1 trophy.
Hows the story?
The story is good all be it a little short, with the tagline ‘a dark whimsical tale that will confront you with your childhood fears!’ It does just that, with the cut scenes the game keeps you guessing as to why Six is their in the first place and why is she constantly being chased and even at the end you are left with unanswered questions about The Maw and the dark characters who reside there. The big winner here though is the sound design, and a unique art style, it is dark and eerie and definitely helps to add to the story and give you chills along the way.
Hows the game-play?
The game play has a mix of tactics, sometimes you have to be stealthy, other fast and you need to make sure you search everywhere and solves key puzzles for your escape as you go. Being a fan of platform games like I said it was a short game but I did enjoy it.
Should I buy it?
Personally I would, the cost is relatively low at around £16.99. If you can get it cheaper do it!
If you are a fan of puzzle-platforms and also like horror then you will enjoy it. I don’t think it’s a game that you would play more than a few times though. In the box you also get a copy of the original soundtrack which I haven’t listened to yet but is a nice addition.
So we have given it the “try it” rating, if its a game for you the relatively low price and fun pick up and play atmosphere make it a decent play. if a bit short.
