Ok Google – Add to my Tesco basket

Ask Google Assistant to add something to your basket, and it will summon your command. This is something that is rather brilliant. Yes, you have to have a workaround to make it work, which involves using the popular service IFTTT. If you have never used it before, I urge you to check it out, it automates certain actions so you don’t have to, like emailing you when it is going to rain tomorrow etc. There are thousands of different “applets” for you to try out.

Back to the Tesco addition, you need to visit the Tesco service on IFTTT, choose the applet you require, and activate it. Now if you use Tesco Home Delivery regularly, it will choose your favourite items before others when you ask Google to add something to your basket. It will even place the order for you if needs be. A fantastic idea for the UK and something that is right up my street. It’s so handy to be able to add something for later, you can use your phone, or more importantly, use Google Home to add items. Imagine, you are in your kitchen, rummaging through the fridge, and you run out of a particular ingredient, you can yell at your Google Home and have it added into your basket in no time at all.
